A Gopaldhara Estate Darjeeling April '06 / 1st Flush. The most beautiful Darjeeling I have encountered....
Bouquet of Clover, jasmine, rose nectar, Champaign/ Muscatel like aroma, sweet and fragrant, smooth and with complexity. Sublime! No bites or bitterness compared to even a high grade Darjeeling. A Candy of High mountain India tea.
Experimenting on older bushes. This is still a developing specimen with Chinese tea making influence. Initial smell and taste like a Competition grade "Oriental Beauty". Pure Heaven. Infused 5 times!

We tried this tea at Chado. It's exactly as you describe: no bite, just all the muscatel loveliness a darjeeling has to offer.
Yes, I remember this Gopaldhara as being quite lovely at our Chado offline. They sell it for $8/oz. Sounds a bit steep. I've been thinking of visiting Chado to grab some. It's not as tannic as the Makaibari 1st Flush I tried.
This is more a oolong to me then green. Michael at T-Gallery is investigating it for me now. Apparently this is a new type that they develop for only one year. The leaves are much more whole and finishes with a longer "Oriental Beauty" after-note.
...and you made my salivate with your TN that I decided to get some '06 Gopaldhara 1st flush yesterday. I don't know if the one I got is the same grade or type as yours, but it was quite good. Short lived, though...I only got about 4 good infusions out of it.
