Using a 450ml Yixing Kung Fu Red Pot. A very generous gift from Master Jiang Meihua for visiting her studio last Fall.
Yixing Red is a day-to-day tea for most potters in Yixing, beside cooked puerh. The leaf size is similar to a Wuyi Shui Xian, so most of the local pots are larger with thicker wall, around 350-500ml for half-a-day brewing.
Hmmm, I like that pot. Simple and elegant.

ReplyDeleteI think the thing is brewing techniques changed, so that while those sizes are what used to be normal size, nowadays when we stuff our pot with 75% tea leaves when brewing a rock tea that's not so practical anymore, hence the small cups. I don't think people back then used that much leaves.
